Sage is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean area. This grayish-green herb with its distinctive flavor and aromatic bouquet is ideal for a variety of meats and stuffings. Top swordfish, tuna, steaks, chicken and turkey with sage-lemon butter. Rub a mixture of Spice Islands Sage, Cracked Pepper and Minced Garlic into pork tenderloin or chops before cooking. Our Spice Islands sage is lightly ground and passed through a coarse sieve, a process known as rubbing. Quite potent, it should be used sparingly or in dishes with longer cooking times. Sage is a wonderful flavor enhancer for seafood, vegetables, meat, stuffing, and savory breads.
