Kroger Health’s Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program

Kroger Health

The Kroger Company is dedicated to our purpose: To Feed the Human Spirit™. With nearly 3,000 supermarkets nationwide, we’re proud to be part of so many diverse communities. Our Zero Hunger Zero Waste initiative is transforming the way America eats while improving the health of millions. As the healthcare division of the Kroger Company, Kroger Health extends this mission by offering pharmacy services, clinical care and personalized health solutions to support the well-being of individuals across the country.

Our Care Network

Kroger Health operates over 2,000 pharmacies and 221 retail-based clinics, supported by a team of 24,000 health-care professionals – including pharmacists, nurse practitioners, dietitians and technicians – dedicated to providing exceptional care and helping people live healthier lives.

Our Commitment

Kroger Health is proud to be recognized for our commitment to clinical services, becoming the first large community chain pharmacy to receive the NABP Community accreditation. Our community-based pharmacy residents are instrumental in driving innovation and enhancing patient care.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve outcomes by creating solutions that combine health, wellness, and nutrition; connecting with people on an emotional and personal level. Kroger Health is committed to providing a holistic, personalized and high-quality health experience.

What to Expect

At Kroger Health, we offer more than just patient-centered prescription needs. Our personalized health services include health screenings, point-of-care testing, vaccines, medication management and optimization, as well as disease management and education.

Select pharmacy locations also offer specialized services, such as the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), transition of care services and advanced professional services, as allowed by state scope of practice.

Our pharmacists work closely with our nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, and external healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care.

As a leader in COVID-19 vaccination and testing throughout the pandemic, we’re proud to continue our commitment to meeting the health needs of our communities quickly and conveniently, ensuring care is accessible when and where it’s needed most.

In addition to clinical care, our residency programs focus on leadership, management, practice-based research, teaching and advocacy to prepare the next generation of pharmacy leaders. Residents will:

  • Participate in leadership-development programs
  • Engage in professional development calls with industry experts
  • Present research projects at the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition
  • Teach and mentor student pharmacists, advocating for the profession
  • Collaborate with Kroger Health leaders to advance the pharmacy practice

Graduates of our residency program are well-prepared to step into pharmacy management roles and take on leadership positions within The Kroger Company and beyond.

“I have learned so much about providing for my community in both the community pharmacy and the ambulatory care settings. It has been very rewarding to bring the two together and increase access to care for our patients.”
